Performance

You'll have no trouble keeping up with traffic in Coral Gables with the new Defender. It has five available engines, ranging from a turbocharged 296-horsepower four-cylinder motor to a 518-horsepower V8. When properly equipped, the Defender can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in around four and a half seconds. It can also tow up to 8,200 pounds with the right configuration.

The Defender's well-weighted steering and sophisticated suspension make it pleasant to drive in the city. However, it also comes standard with four-wheel drive and a Terrain Response system for amazing off-road proficiency. An optional air suspension gives the Defender up to 11.5 inches of ground clearance and the ability to ford a stream that's nearly three feet deep. An available Terrain Response 2 system automatically senses the surface you're driving over and adjusts the drivetrain and suspension accordingly.

Design

The new Defender has a rugged, boxy shape with straight lines and chunky fender flares. A small, square grille, black body cladding, and squared-off headlights with round accents reinforce its handsome exterior. An optional black roof gives the Defender an even more premium appearance.

Interior

Climb inside the new Defender and you'll be impressed with its blocky styling and low, tiered dash. Available in a short, two-door model (Defender 90) - a four-door, two-row version (Defender 110) - and a long, three-row variant (Defender 130), it offers seating for five to eight passengers.

Coral Gables drivers who want the most room possible for their luggage or camping gear will prefer the Defender 110, which provides more than 78 cubic feet of cargo space when its rear seats are folded down. Leather upholstery and heated front seats are standard.

Technology

A fully loaded infotainment system can make slow slogs through busy traffic in Coral Gables more tolerable. The new Defender has a user-friendly 11.4-inch touchscreen with vivid graphics and speedy responses. Other standard tech features in the Defender include:
